Winterfest: Fire & Ice

Gather family and friends for a weekend of wintertime festivities at 2009 Winterfest: Fire & Ice at the Lake. January 16-17, Chelan will bustle with a flurry of Winterfest activities—snowmobile races, snow and ice sculpting, a torchlight parade and a spectacular fireworks show. Visitors will once again have the opportunity to ice skate at Chelan’s city park, and take a sleigh ride in Chelan’s historic downtown. Ten ice sculptors from throughout the Northwest will each sculpt two sculptures, creating an outdoor gallery of winter art. 

The Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce is currently seeking volunteers, sponsors and participants in Winterfest activities.  If you’d like get involved, please contact Jaye Payne at the Chamber at (509) 682-3503 or at events@lakechelan.com

Friday, January 16: Fire and Ice Friday

  • 2pm, Watch Ice carving by master sculptors on Woodin Ave. in downtown Chelan

  • 3-7pm, Raycom Radio Shack Ice Skating Rink

  • 3-7pm, Sleigh Rides sponsored by Lake House at Chelan (complimentary rides downtown Chelan)

  • Downtown businesses stay open until 7pm offering fire & ice specials!

  • Live entertainment will take place throughout the evening.

Saturday, January 17

  • 10am-3pm, Raycom Radio Ice Skating Rink
  • 10am-3pm, Sleigh Rides sponsored by Lake House at Chelan (complimentary rides downtown Chelan)
  • 10:00am-3:00pm, Snow Sculpting, 1st & 2nd place prizes in OPEN and FAMILY categories. Judging begins at 3:15pm.
  • Noon-2:00pm, Lake Chelan Eagles. Kid's Activities, Family Karoake with Heidi Neal, Hamburgers and hot dog lunches.
  • Noon-2:00pm, Community Stage at The Historic Ruby Theatre.  Noon to 1pm Jesse Russell, 1-2pm local entertainment TBD
  • Noon-2:00pm, Keg Toss, $5 entitles you to best of 3 throws (Don Morse Park) Awards for Men's/Women's Categories. 
  • Noon-6:00pm, Lion's Club Chili Feed & Refreshments.
  • 2:30pm, Broadstripe Chili Cookoff Registration at the Lake Chelan Eagles.
  • 5:00pm, Torchlight Parade "Fire & Ice." Decorate yourself in "theme" and march through downtown Chelan to Don Morse Park. Enter at the Chamber.
  • 5:45pm, Spectacular Fireworks Show at the Don Morse Park
  • Bonfire Lighting & Polar Bear Splash, 5:30pm. Don Morse Park. Splashers Get Your Pledges.
  • 7:00pm-11:00pm, Polar Party featuring Tri-Cities Cover Band MudShark, at the  Campbell's Ballroom ($5 Cover for 15 yrs and Older)

All Weekend: Tour fourteen boutique wineries in the Chelan Valley. The Lake Chelan Wine Growers invite you to visit wineries for wine specials, bonfires, spiced wine and entertainment. A driving map is available at the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce. Currently, the Chamber is accepting vendor applications for this event.
